Include Youth's Annual Conference 'Youth Justice - Whose Justice? Making it work for everyone" will be held on 23rd and 24th October.
In 1998 the theme of the Include Youth annual conference was "Juvenile Justice - what works, interventions that make a difference." Ten years on we aim to review the impact not only of the Criminal Justice Children Order, 1998 but a number of other initiatives aimed at addressing criminal and anti-social activity by children and young people. These include the Children Order, the Criminal Justice Review, the introduction of Youth Justice Agency, Community Safety, Children Services Planning and of course the 10 year Strategy for Children and Young People in NI. All these when added to intense media and political attention alongside the preparation for the devolution of justice places young people at the centre of a number of agendas. Children involved with the criminal justice system are the concern of a number of stakeholders including those outside of the formal justice system.
This conference will aim to provide information and stimulate a debate centred on the prevention of offending and re-offending by children and young people. Include Youth conferences have a reputation for facilitating stimulating discussion and an opportunity for practitioners, managers and policy makers working with all vulnerable children, young people and their families to network and share experiences.
