Aims and Objectives: PAKT is a grassroots, family led initiative. The family, in all its shapes, is absolutely central to the development of a PAKT project. An important factor which distinguishes PAKT from any other programmes is its concentration on relationships between parents and children within the family unit. KEY ASPECTS *PAKT involves parents and children working together, both in individual and joint activities. *It requires the involvement of parents, not as passive observers but as active participants. *It is an integrated programme that seeks to contribute to the spiritual, physical, intellectual and social development of children and their parents.
Programme Outline: Children’s Programme - designed to support and assist with the personal development children. We encourage participants to make new friends and take part in activities which will give them basic skills to benefit them in later life. E.g. Learn to Swim -Sports -Arts & Crafts - Games Parent’s Programme - PAKT holds information sessions on issues of common concern. Activities provide an opportunity to learn new skills and social events build networks and peer support groups. E.g. Drugs Awareness -Coping With Stress In The Family-Photography The Family Programme is designed to build upon the relationships forged through the Children’s and the Parents’ Programme and thereby extend friendship networks.
