Partnerships
Include Youth recognises the importance of building strong partnerships to ensure the rights and best interests of young people in need or at risk are realised. Include Youth works collaborately with colleagues from the community, voluntary and statutory sectors.
Include Youth is represented on the Board of Children in Northern Ireland (CiNI) and NI Alternatives. We are also represented on all four Children's Services Planning processes at various levels. We have developed formal agreeements with the Trusts and DEL specifically Careers through the Give and Take and we continue to build strong relationships with voluntary sector organisations such as NIACRO and Extern.
Risky Children or Children at Risk
The Risky Children or Children at Risk Group is an ad hoc inter-agency group convened by Include Youth and whose membership includes specialist projects, Area Child Protection Committees, Social Services Inspectorate, Criminal Justice Agencies, voluntary organisations and Education. The group is concerned with policy and practice as it relates to children and young people who display sexually harmful behaviours.
Fostering Achievement
The Fostering Achievement Scheme aims to support foster carers as first educators thereby improving the educational experiences of the children in their care. Include Youth has been involved, in a partnership led by the Fostering Network NI, in developing this scheme. The scheme provides credits for children aged 4 to 17 who have been in care for six months or more. Five Development Workers, one of whom is based with us, work throughout NI to support carers to make the best use of the funds available through the scheme.
